So the first batch of materials has been ordered and delivered for the basement finishing project. The team over at Moynihan Lumber was super friendly and very helpful. I would strongly recommend them over any of the big box home improvement centers for building materials. Good prices and free delivery!
Free delivery, good. Lugging all that crap around the side of the house through the snow and shoving it through the basement window, bad.
In true shameless fashion, I self medicated with a beer or two and a gigantic horse-pill sized ibuprofen left over from Laura's delivery recovery. Hey, I had to function the next day! And the pile was more than just a few 2x4's.
So the past couple of nights this week I've been down in the basement finally making some visual progress. Once everything was stacked neatly, I was able to mark the perimeter wall layout and get started on installing the rigid insulation along the foundation walls. Pretty straight forward: measure, mark, cut and glue, and move on to the next piece. It's going pretty quickly, and in two nights have about 80% of the walls complete.
Maybe as early as this weekend I will be anchoring the plates to the floor and ceiling and beginning the framing. Here's to progress!
